Juneteenth

The sea
Was
A refuge
A prayer
A different kind of
of liberation

I think about
How
Bones
And shells
The same

And I keep
Hoping

One day
Liberation
Will taste
More like
The freedom
Of the sea

And less like
The salt
Of blood
