Call to Worship
Come and See the Messiah
Let us prepare the way of the Lord
Here the good news, the kingdom of heaven has come near.
Let us prepare our hearts to worship the Lord
Call to Worship
Let us approach with fear and trembling, who wants to be baptized?
Prepare us for the Messiah, for to be washed clean can be scary.
Know this, the ways will be made straight, the way will be made clear.
God loves us and prepares our hearts for Jesus.
Prayer of Confession: Lord sometimes we cry out with John the Baptist, because we know there is a brood vipers, worming their way into our lives. privileging power and money and race over love and justice. Teach us how to make the paths straight we pray.
Prayer of Confession (unison) Lord, we come laid bare, knowing that all of our faults and sins show. Remind us that you do not require perfection, only faith. Remind us that you do not ask for sacrifice, only the sacrifice of praise. Remind us that we are already beloved children of God, we pray.… (Silent Prayer)…Amen
Prayer of Dedication: (unison) Send us into the world with fear and trembling, knowing at the paths will be made straight, and the way can be Prepared for Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns: Amazing Grace, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Spirit of the Living God, This is My Father’s World, They’ll Know We are Christians By Our Love

"Publisher after publisher turned down A Wrinkle in Time," L'Engle wrote, "because it deals overtly with the problem of evil, and it was too difficult for children, and was it a children's or an adult's book, anyhow?" The next year it won the prestigious John Newbery Medal.
Tolkien states in the foreword to The Lord of the Rings that he disliked allegories and that the story was not one.[66] Instead he preferred what he termed "applicability", the freedom of the reader to interpret the work in the light of his or her own life and times.
